Before the booking system, people turned up hoping for a boat and could not get one, and taking bookings meant the owner was always in the middle of it. Now every booking is made online, against live availability, so there are no double bookings and nobody arrives to find nothing free.
The owner is not a technical person and wanted something clean and simple for his customers to use. Deposits and payments are taken when the booking is made, which took the financial worry out of that part of the business, and the system takes him out of the booking process completely. His time goes on the day-to-day running, repairs and the customers in front of him.
