How many calls is your business missing? Find out in a week

Count them for one normal week. Your phone keeps a log of every missed call, so write down each one, mark which were genuine enquiries, and note whether anyone got a reply. One honest week tells you more than any estimate.

01

Start with the log you already have

Every phone keeps a list of missed calls with the time and number. If you also use a landline or a second number, check that log too. Your phone provider can tell you whether it keeps a record for lines you cannot see on the handset, so ask them.

You do not need software for this. A notes page on your phone is enough.

02

Sort the calls into three piles

  • Genuine enquiries: someone new asking about a job, a quote or a booking.
  • People you already know: customers, suppliers, family. These matter, but they will ring back.
  • Everything else: sales calls and wrong numbers.

Only the first pile is the problem. A number you do not recognise, ringing in working hours, that rang once and stopped, is usually the one to look at.

03

Check what happened next

For each genuine enquiry, write down whether you called back, whether you texted, and whether they answered. A call you returned the same day is a different problem from a call nobody returned.

This is the part most people skip, and it is where the lost work shows up. If a customer rang on Tuesday and you did not call back until Friday, assume they have already hired someone else.

04

Turn the count into a decision

Take the genuine enquiries you missed, think honestly about how many would have become paid work, and multiply by what a normal job is worth to you. Use the cautious end of every guess. If the answer is still money worth having, the problem is real and a fix is worth paying for.

If it comes out small, you have saved yourself from building something you do not need, which is a good result too.

If you want a second pair of eyes

We can go through your own week with you on a free 20-minute call and say plainly whether a missed-call fix is worth building for your business, or whether a simpler habit will do.

Tell us what breaks when you get busy.

The first step is a call, and it costs nothing: twenty minutes on what your business does and what breaks when you get busy. Most projects then start with the £450 Diagnostic: half a day walking your process end to end, with a written recommendation and a fixed quote, credited in full against a build if you go ahead within thirty days. If you already know which package you need and its scope is clear, we quote it directly.
