How much does a small business website cost in the UK?
A bespoke small business website from Archline starts from £1,500: up to six pages, designed for your business, with the domain, hosting and business email set up in your name. The price rises with what the site has to do, such as catching enquiries out of hours, taking bookings or taking payment. A template site costs less up front, and the trade-offs are below.

01
What actually sets the price
Four things move the cost of a website, and they matter more than the number of pages.
Whether it is designed for your business or fitted into a template. What it has to do beyond looking good: take payments, take bookings, answer enquiries while you are busy. How much of the groundwork is done properly, meaning search setup, structured data and your Google Business Profile. And who owns it at the end.
A quote that does not say how it handles those four is not comparable with one that does, even if the headline figure looks the same.

Our prices, in the open
An Enquiry build is from £1,500. It is for a business that mainly needs to be found and to get enquiries: up to six pages, designed and built for you, card payments or lead capture straight to your inbox, content you can edit yourself, and the domain, hosting and business email configured in your name.
An Attention build is from £2,500 and adds catching the enquiries that arrive while you are busy. An Order build is from £3,500 and lets customers book or order and pay for themselves. Each is paid 50% to start and 50% on delivery.
These are starting points. The final figure depends on what your site has to do, and we give you a fixed price before any work starts.
03
Template site or bespoke build
A template site is quicker and cheaper at the start, and for a business that only needs a simple online presence it can be exactly right. What you give up is the way the site works: you get what the template allows, and the thing that brings you customers, such as how enquiries reach you, is usually the part the template does least well.
A bespoke build costs more at the start and is shaped around how your customers actually find and contact you. It is the better choice when the website is meant to bring in work rather than sit there.
04
What you still pay for after launch
A website is not a one-off for ever. You will pay for the domain, hosting and business email, which together are small, and card fees go to the payment provider, not to us.
If you want somebody who knows the site on the end of the phone when something breaks, there is a monthly retainer: £149 with the Attention build and £249 with Order. The retainer for the Enquiry build is quoted with the build. Ask for the retainer figure before you compare quotes.

Not sure what you need?
Run your site through the free Line Check first. It scores how the site is doing and shows where customers are being lost, and it often turns out the answer is a handful of fixes rather than a new site.

Tell us what breaks when you get busy.
The first step is a call, and it costs nothing: twenty minutes on what your business does and what breaks when you get busy. Most projects then start with the £450 Diagnostic: half a day walking your process end to end, with a written recommendation and a fixed quote, credited in full against a build if you go ahead within thirty days. If you already know which package you need and its scope is clear, we quote it directly.
